The Arruga TC Gold 13 cm needle holder by Hossa International is called a vice for gripping and guiding the needle during surgical suturing. Arruga, or “wrinkle”, is used primarily in ophthalmology, ophthalmic procedures, such as eyelid surgery. It is a single spring device with a ratchet mechanism at the base of the rectangular handle. The vice is used by the surgeon not only to hold the needle during suturing, but also to tie the ends of surgical threads on the tool. The optimally short tip of the needle holder improves the conditions of the surgical field. The shape and size of the vice adapts to the type of sewn tissue and surgical threads used.
