The Kelman-McPherson 11.5 cm curved tissue forceps are used to guide suture threads and hold the scleral edge in the corneal incision. The instrument has a pair of very thin, curved jaws with 2:1 0.3 mm diameter serrations that easily adapt to the contours of the cornea. In addition, the forceps contain exceptionally precise platforms for tying, grasping sutures and knots. The serrated profile is also ideal for securely grasping the cornea and other delicate tissues. The Kelman-McPherson forceps are equipped with an ergonomically designed spring handle that allows the jaws to be closed with controlled pressure, avoiding trauma.
