The Mathieu TC Gold needle holder is called a vice for gripping and guiding the needle during surgical suturing. The vice is used by the surgeon not only to hold the needle during suturing, but also to tie the ends of surgical threads on the instrument. Mathieu is one of the most popular instruments for surgical suturing due to its optimal and lightweight construction. It is ideally suited for sutures, a method of dressing wounds that require frequent repositioning. The shape and size of the vice adapts to the type of tissue being sewn and the surgical threads used. Used, among others, in: general and dental surgery, orthodontics, veterinary medicine.

Product specification: premium tool, made of German stainless steel with certified German tungsten carbide insert (tung=heavy and sten=stone). Tungsten carbide has been known for years as an indestructible additive to high-quality steel in medical tools. It is characterized by extraordinary hardness, density and high melting temperature (3410–3422 °C).

Correct sewing is facilitated by the proper use of the tool, i.e. the needle should be placed in the vice so that its long axis and the long Mathieu axis form a right angle, and the optimal fastening is 1/3 of the length from the eyelet side, while the actual tip of the needle holder should protrude slightly behind the needle.

Meets all requirements for sterilization procedures according to the Ordinances of Dental Offices and Facilities. Autoclave sterilization up to 134°, hot air sterilization 180 – 220°.
